FORA.tv: Does 10k Hours of Gaming Have Effects?
December 15th, 2010True Education has always been Online
December 15th, 2010Consider the disconnect between teacher and student in the average classroom today. The students seem OFFline the same as if you were in a computer lab without electrical power. However, "connection" alone is not the simple solution. Once the computers are connected to the power source, what is the "mindset?, our attitude toward and perception of the device?
Many may see the computer as a kind of box, a closet if you will, that stores and manipulates finite data (games? email? documents?). The challenge before educators today is to break through this mindset and help learners discover the device as a "portal" to another world. Perhaps then imaginations can be made free enough to engage again in discovery.
